About PABC

The Pennsylvania Breastfeeding Coalition (PABC) was formed in 1992 when Judith Gallagher, Director of the Bureau of MCH Preventive Health Programs at the PA Department of Health, convened a group of interested people in Harrisburg. We met for the first few years under their auspices.

The Pennsylvania Breastfeeding Coalition strives to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. We have gathered breastfeeding advocates from across the Commonwealth, who meet bimonthly and communicate regularly through our listserv.

Comprised of health professionals from hospitals, clinics, state-level public health departments, and universities, concerned parents and citizens, and volunteers from community organizations, each member contributes time, energy, and expertise to activities that support breastfeeding in Pennsylvania.

PABC facilitates community and statewide efforts to protect, support and promote breastfeeding. We are an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit. Our funding comes from dues, grants, and charitable contributions.

We work as part of the United States Breastfeeding Committee (USBC).
