Dr. Amaka Nnamani is a board-certified general pediatrician, consultant and speaker on a
mission to advance breastfeeding equity and belonging, one person and community at a time.
She is a two-time grant awardee from the PA Department of Health (to improve the
breastfeeding rates in marginalized communities). Dr. Nnamani is a Chapter Breastfeeding
Coordinator for the PA AAP, sits on the Medical Advisory Board of the Mid Atlantic Mothers’
Milk Bank and is most recently one of the Co-Chairs for the Advocacy Committee of the
Pennsylvania AAP.
She is the author of the children’s picture book on breastfeeding titled ‘Ziora’s Quest:
Mommy’s Milk Rocks!.’ The book tells the story of a six-year-old big sister who wished for a
little sister but soon realizes that Sissy just wants to breastfeed all the time. ‘What’s the big deal
about breastfeeding, anyway?, she wonders. She is transported through a portal to the amazing
world of Milky White where she meets with her pediatrician and learns amazing fun facts about
breast milk!
Her advocacy and work have been featured on NPR, the BBC, ABC, the AAP, SiriusXM’s
Doctor Radio, amongst many other media outlets. She has also testified in front of legislators on
the importance of child nutrition (specifically breastfeeding), and advocates for policy reform
with regards to paid maternal leave and breastfeeding support. She has partnered with different
state WIC (Women, Infant and Children) programs and agencies to use her book as an
educational tool for its participants. She finds a lot of joy in speaking about issues related to
breastfeeding and advocacy, as well as doing read alouds of her book at libraries, book stores and
several other outlets with a goal to empower and educate while entertaining children on the
benefits of breastfeeding.

 In her spare time, Dr. Nnamani loves to spend time with her husband of thirteen years and her
three beautiful children, all of whom were breastfed.  The spa, the library and the beach are her
happy places. A self-proclaimed fashionista, she also enjoys reading books on personal
development, biographies/autobiographies and loves to travel, dance, watch comedies and shop!

Jenny Hetro is a creative and resourceful business owner, Certified Lactation Counselor, and co-chair of the re-emerging Luzerne County Breastfeeding Coalition. Perhaps, most importantly, she's a mom to two “tiny Hetros” and a servant leader in the community. She contributed to the Pennsylvania Breastfeeding Coalition's website adjustment project and is an active supporter of PABC's mission. Her 20+ years of professional experience in the healthcare, nonprofit and for-profit sectors shape her diverse perspective and drive varied considerations when planning and executing mission-oriented work. Jenny is a member of her church’s social justice committee and her company earmarks the delivery of 8-16 hours of pro bono work each month as part of a deliberate contribution to the greater good. Jenny's skillsets include strategic communication; email marketing and graphic design; engaging volunteers and convening community partners; and, in general, diving two feet in to make positive change alongside the people, causes, and organizations that inspire her.

Meghan is a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS), a Licensed Dietitian-Nutritionist (LDN), and a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC). Meghan was born in New York State, and lived most of her childhood in Vermont. She earned her BS in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Vermont. She moved to PA initially in 2001 for grad school at California University of PA where she earned a Master’s in Athletic Training. Meghan worked at the collegiate level as a Certified Athletic Trainer and an adjunct professor. After moving back to PA in 2008, she earned her Master’s in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport. She started her own private nutrition practice and ventured into Public Health with PA WIC. She currently works as a Public Health Nutrition Consultant/Breastfeeding Coordinator with PA WIC, and maintains her private functional nutrition practice. She currently lives and practices in Sewickley, PA with her husband, three children and three dogs. 

Karen is a board certified International Board Certified Lactation Consultant since 1988 and has maintained an active private practice. She serves as the Treasurer of Pennsylvania Association of Breastfeeding Coalition (PABC). Karen is also a mother of four and a GrandMimi to nine littles ones. During her past year of retirement from public school teaching, Karen has taken up a number of hobbies including playing the oboe, singing in choir, being a Cricut enthusiast and propagating succulents. Most importantly, though, she is a seeker of joy and fun!

Leslie has been a board certified lactation consultant since 2007. Her introduction to breastfeeding came in 1996, with the birth of her daughter. Challenges with breastfeeding baby number two, and the subsequent research journey to resolve them, led to an interest in helping other mothers meet their feeding goals. While working as a hospital-based lactation consultant, Leslie participated in helping one hospital achieve Baby Friendly designation and another to redesignate.  Her passion is to bring evidence-based information and compassionate care to her patients. Leslie has served as the immediate past chair of the Pennsylvania Breastfeeding Coalition and participates actively in advocacy and equity projects to reduce health disparities in at-risk populations. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Leslie resides in Mechanicsburg, PA with her husband, son, two cats and two dogs.

As a registered nurse, childbirth educator, and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant, Lisa is honored to care for and to learn from families. Lisa advocates for breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and body feeding people and volunteers on the Pennsylvania Breastfeeding Coalition Awards Committee, to expand workplace support. She is a consultant for the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics Breastfeeding Programs and a founding member of the Lycoming Clinton Breastfeeding Coalition.  Lisa actively participates in Williamsport’s initiative towards a Breastfeeding Family-Friendly Community because all families deserve the freedom and support to meet their feeding goals. 

Lauren is a registered dietitian, certified lactation counselor, and breastfeeding advocate. Growing up in a large Sicilian family it was the norm to see all of her aunts and grown cousins breastfeeding and sharing tips and stories of being a breastfeeding momma. Lauren is passionate about her work with Storkpump, an organization focused on providing high-quality personal use pumps fully covered by insurance, along with accessories, troubleshooting tips, or connection to clinical experts who can answer specific questions. Lauren is also a member of the Luzerne County Breastfeeding Coalition.

Business owner, founder, full spectrum doula, lactation consultant, midwife apprentice, station owner. operations manager, radio program director, on-air personality, writer, web designer, and motivational speaker: Gerria ‘Mz Coffee’ Coffee balances her numerous professional titles as a serial entrepreneur with personal roles as a mother of twins, a Kindergardner, and breastfeeding toddler. She founded Genesis Birth Services where the mission is to provide culturally competent and equitable support to the families often underserved and under-represented populations such as Black parents  and pregnant or postpartum incarcerated and paroled individuals. 

Alison is the mother of four breastfed children, registered nurse, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and La Leche League Leader. She was born and raised in New Jersey and became a Pennsylvania transplant after attending nursing school at the University of Pennsylvania. Breastfeeding her own children gave her a passion for lactation support, and she became a La Leche League Leader and IBCLC. In 2022 she completed a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Pittsburgh focused on education and quality improvement initiatives. She currently works as a postpartum nurse and IBCLC for UPMC Altoona, and co-leads the UPMC system breastfeeding committee. She lives in Altoona with her husband, cat, and dachshund.
