The Pennsylvania Breastfeeding Awareness and Support Program was started in 2004 to increase the number of new mothers who choose breastfeeding as their long-term infant feeding method.
Pennsylvania Breastfeeding Referral Guide
County-specific individuals and organizations that can provide breastfeeding awareness, support and assistance. It includes information on lactation specialists, WIC program contacts, breastfeeding mother groups/coalitions, breast pump rentals and retail purchases, and local, state and national help lines.
Through WIC, pregnant women, mothers, and caregivers of infants and young children learn about good nutrition to keep themselves and their families healthy. WIC provides nutrition services, breastfeeding support, health care and social service referrals, and healthy foods to over 250,000 participants every month in Pennsylvania.
A nonprofit organization founded in 1980, dedicates itself to improving maternal and child health and well being through the collaborative efforts of individuals, families, providers, and communities. Philadelphia Health Department Breastfeeding Support – Support for nursing mothers as well as education, training and support for healthcare professionals in Philadelphia who work with pregnant or nursing mothers.
